I am a Philips Videopac G7000 enthusiast from Sweden. I am 61 years old, and when I was thirteen, my siblings and I got a Philips Videopac G7000 as a Christmas present from our parents. We had fun with it for a few years until it broke.

I had almost forgotten about the console until I stumbled upon O2EM, which I downloaded and tested, full of nostalgia and memories from my childhood came back.
I was overjoyed that I could play my beloved G7000 games again, but I was not really happy with the emulation that O2EM performed. The sound was terrible in some games, and on top of that I had to use the command prompt all the time.

That gave me the idea to make some shortcuts in the form of .bat files, at first, one for each game, it worked, but I was not satisfied, so I tried making a simple UI in Powershell, but quickly realized the limitations, as I wanted more and more features.

So I moved on to Visual Basic, but I soon became limited there again. So I downloaded C++ in Visual Studio and continued there, and have stayed with C++. The idea with my UI was initially that it would be in a Win95 style, but so far I haven’t put that much energy into the look, but more into the functions of my UI.

I’m also working on doing something about the bad sound that remains from the old O2EM, I’ve gone through Mame’s emulation and am trying to find a solution to what is left of the old O2EM original code. We’ll see what time brings with this.

The whole project is intended to preserve as much as possible from the old O2EM code, but sometimes it feels like it would have been easier to just rewrite everything from scratch. (Decision, decision)

I do this in my spare time, and it is a nostalgic passion project. It costs me time and money, so updates sometimes come faster and sometimes a little slower…
